Following the furore occasioned by the case of Rhys Davies the gamekeeper from Millden Estate the supposed ‘jewel in the crown’ of driven grouse shooting one might perhaps have expected some response from the various bodies that promote shooting. We thought we’d have a look and see what they had to say about this terrible case so we scrolled through their websites and have posted the coverage of this case below.
Scottish Land and Estates (SLE): Zero
Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT): Zero
Scottish Gamekeepers Association (SGA): Zero
British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC): Zero
Angus Glens Moorland Group (AGMG): Zero
Shooting UK (Umbrella website for Shooting Times, Sporting Gun and Airgun Shooter): Zero Although we did find this published the day before the Millden case (Thanks Eddie)!
The Hunting Life: Zero
Country Squire Magazine: Zero
Countryside Alliance (CA): Zero
Campaign for the Protection of Moorland Communities (C4PMG): Zero
We wonder why these organisations, all of whom claim to be interested in the environment and wildlife and all of who claim to be strongly against law breaking are taking so long to condemn such sadistic behavior. Surely at least the AGMG which covers Millden or the BASC who sponsored a game keeping prize won by Rhys Davies have something to say.
What’s up with the normally vociferous shooting community. Badgers got their tongue?
