Men Arrested & Dogs Seized in Dog Fighting Investigation

Three men aged 28, 30, and 35, have been arrested at Sewardstone Road in Chingford during a multi agency operation. All three are currently released under investigation on suspicion of dangerous dog offences, handling stolen goods, possession of a firearm and possession of offensive weapons in a private place.

A number of dogs and puppies thought to be prohibited breeds were seized after reports of dog fighting in North London. A firearm, combat knives, and stolen plant machinery were also recovered by police from the scene in Chingford on Thursday February 3.

PC Tom Landels of the Metropolitan Police’s North East Command said: “Dog fighting is brutal, fundamentally cruel and is an organised crime that operates secretly with no regard for animal welfare. Anyone with information concerning dangerous dogs or dog fighting should contact police or Crimestoppers without delay.”

He added: “There was a significant amount of property and a number of dogs seized during this operation. The plant machinery will be returned to the lawful owners and the dogs will undergo assessment while they are cared for at a police kennel facility.”

Enquiries are currently ongoing.
