Dog Seized in ‘Urban Hunting’ Investigation.

A dog has been seized by Inspectors from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).

A lurcher type dog was seized from George ‘Dode’ Baigrie after investigators raided his house in Dalkeith, Midlothian. The SIU raided the premises after receiving information that Baigrie owned lurcher type dogs used to hunt down foxes and deer. A dog was found in terrible condition and was taken into SSPCA care. Another dog found straying earlier and believed to belong to Baigrie has also been taken into care.

An SSPCA undercover Inspector said “As a result of ongoing enquiries, two dogs have been seized on welfare grounds. A report is currently being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal so we cannot provide any further detail at this time.”

More details about Mr Baigrie are in a Daily Record report here.
