Scots Dog Fighter Sentenced:

Liam Taylor 32 of Deyhill, Aberdeenshire, whose case we have covered before was sentenced today.

Taylor was convicted of keeping a Bull Lurcher for an animal fight and failing to provide veterinary treatment for injuries to the dog’s face, toe and teeth.

Following his conviction Taylor will be under supervision for 12 months, has been ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work and has also been banned from keeping dogs for ten years.

Although we are sorry to see Taylor escaping a custodial sentence we are glad to see that he has been banned from keeping dogs for ten years.

This was a particularly unpleasant case which has ramifications that we cannot comment on at present. Rest assured we will be doing so as soon as it is legally possible.

Another success for the Scottish SPCA’s Special Investigations Unit and the police working together.
