Although our blog has space for comments most readers tend not to post. The majority get the blog emailed directly to their in-box which means they would need to launch a browser to post anything. A Keeper’s Tale has changed that. We received a single comment from WildMattCross on the 7th of February suggesting the blog and its contents were pure invention. As is oten the case with shooting supporters like Matt anything that in any way shows their ‘sport’ in a poor light is inevitably ‘fake news’. Matt also posted his views on Twitter. Interestingly since Matt’s post we have received a deluge of comments from people unhappy with what was said in the blog. We haven’t published them because once the vile abuse and the threats of violence and rape have been removed there is not a lot left. Recently Oliver Mundell MSP raised the matter of people being unpleasant to gamekeepers in Scotland. Perhaps young Oliver might like to consider the vile and in some cases probably criminal behaviour apparently originating from supporters of the shooting industry. Raptor Persecution UK is currently covering the same thing and there is plenty of evidence to see on Twitter and Facebook. If Oliver would like to get in touch we’d be happy to point him in the right direction.
We await his response with interest.

Your views on protected mammals in Schedule 6 of the WCA in England and Wales would be welcome.
A gamekeeper( for instance) may apparently use a Springtrap to kill any of these creatures, where applicable, as long as it’s not deliberate. So where’s the protection to say Polecats , in an area where they exist and have been trapped and killed before. “Sorry mate it was an accident, (even if they are vermin)”
Take a look at the Act. The National Gamekeepers Organisation is very smug.
Can we wipe that smirk off it’s face?
Can we protect Polecats instead of Gamekeepers?

Hi Steve We interrupted our review of wildlife protection in Scotland because we wanted to publish A Keeper’s Tale before circumstances changed but we will be covering the situation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland before too long. A crucial factor is not so much what the law says but how willing the various bodies are to enforce it. Meantime we’d be very happy to have a look at hosting something from you on this topic. You can e mail us in complete confidence at wmpuk@protonmail.com

Thanks for the articles and for giving us the chance to comment. Very important in light of the abuse meted out by the pro hunting and shooting lobby
