There is an oft expressed view in UK conservation that Scotland leads the way in wildlife protection. Over the next few weeks we plan to take a look at just how accurate that really is. We will be casting an eye over Scotland’s wildlife legislation and following the political moves that brought it about. From hunting with dogs to mountain hares. From licence withdrawals to vicarious liability. We will see how well the law is enforced and how efective it has been in reducing wildlife crime. And finally we will be asking does Scotland ‘walk the walk’ or just ‘talk the talk’ when it comes to protecting the country’s precious wildlife.
