On 28th August we reported that Fife man Martin Davidson, 23, of Abbotsford Road, Lochore, Fife had appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court where he admitted training his bull lurchers ‘Tramp’, ‘Mojo’ and ‘Sid’ and Staffordshire bull terrier ‘Lady’ to fight animals such as badgers and foxes. Davidson pleaded guilty to failing to ensure the welfare of his animals and a full sentencing hearing was set for the 2nd of October. Davidson has now been given a Community Payback Order and ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and banned from keeping dogs for five years. A deprivation order was made at the original hearing, which means the Scottish SPCA can now set about finding the dogs loving homes.
This is another successful operation between Police Scotland and inspectors of the Scottish SPCA’s Special Investigations Unit.
