A petition has been started to ask the UK Government to list Hedgehogs on Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which would afford them a greater measure of protection that is currently the case. Hedgehog populations in the UK are seriously in decline and they are now listed as vulnerable to extinction. There are many other actions that need to be taken to reverse this dramatic decline but Schedule 5 listing is a start.
