Chris Packham’s Gate and @CA_TimBonner

On a number of occasions now we have encouraged representatives of the shooting/countryside groups who we know watch this site to condemn the despicable and, on occasions criminal attacks on people whose views differ from theirs. Strangely there has been nothing. Following an fresh incident in which a dead badger was strung up from Chris Pakcham’s gate in the early hours of Friday we did come across one interesting Twitter like from Tim Bonner Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance. Here is the Tweet that Tim liked and here is Tim posting on the Countryside Alliance website about the ‘prejudice grouse moors now face’. Tim mentions his belief that grouse shooting’s “opponents hate the people who do it” and later goes on “If you are sceptical that this can really be true. That apparently sane people can be quite so warped…” Well there certainly seems to be some hatred around and some warped people. Sane or simply wicked we can’t say at this stage. What we can say is that Mr Bonner’s like of a Tweet which seems to make fun of a criminal act intended to cause fear and distress is a serious error of judgement. We are sure Mr Bonner would wish to publicly make it clear that in no way does he find criminal intimidation funny and that the Countryside Alliance totally condemns it. We would be happy to link to any clarification he makes or give it space here. Over to you Tim.
