A dead badger which had reportedly been shot and partially buried in its sett has been found by members of the Three Counties Hunt Saboteurs at Himbleton near Droitwich in Worcestershire. Lynn Sawyer and a colleague were visiting a badger sett when they noticed some loose earth covering what appeared to be a sett entrance. When they examined it further they saw a badger paw projecting. They pulled the animal out, unaware of whether it was alive or not. Sadly it turned out to be dead. There were injuries to the rump, a small hole in the skull and a lot of fresh blood. An X Ray subsequently showed that the animal, a female, had been shot.

The incident was reported to West Mercia Police.
