Major Joint SSPCA and Police Operation on Animal Fighting.

A major operation against an animal fighting* ring was carried out by the Scottish SPCA in partnership with Police Scotland and specialist ecologists last week. Two addresses in Angus and Aberdeenshire were raided under warrant and animals and other material were removed.

This is a highly significant operation for a number of reasons which we cannot go into at the moment but we will be blogging about this over the next days, weeks and months.

It is cheering to see the police, SSPCA and wildlife experts working together and pooling their skills to conduct operations against the barbaric crime of animal fighting which is currently rife throughout the UK. The SSPCA Special Investigations Unit has a great deal of experience in gathering intelligence and investigating animal fighting offences and has had much success in presenting cases to the courts. Combined with the crime fighting skills of Police Scotland and the expertise of specialist ecologists they make an exceptional team that can help to rid Scotland of this brutal and sadistic activity.

The SSPCA statement in relation to this operation can be found here.
